Chris Kirby

Chris Kirby is an Adelaide-based, award-winning landscape, nature and garden photographer. Following a career in education, she now devotes much of her time to photographing Australia's native flora and birdlife for a range of conservation, educational, and community projects. Her work regularly appears in journals and newsletters produced by organisations with which she is actively involved, including the Adelaide Australian Plants Society (APSSA), Adelaide Botanic Garden, and the Mediterranean Garden Society of South Australia. Since 2020, Chris and her botanist husband Greg, have been active members of the Friends of Vulkathunha–Gammon Ranges National Park in the Northern Flinders Ranges. Chris photographed and compiled the Birds of Arkaroola & the Northern Flinders Ranges identification brochure which was published in 2023. Chris, Greg and Nicki de Preu are currently preparing a work in wildflower identification. A passionate advocate for nature photography, Chris runs practical workshops to encourage and inspire photographers of all skill levels to develop their craft and deepen their connection with the natural world.
