Kate’s talk will share stories about the journey with Uncle Yuandamarra, to understand more about four key species that he considered to be the most important and needful of research at this time: Acrotriche depressa, Santalum lanceolatum, Marsdenia australis, and Solanum cleistogamum. All four species require a deeper level of investigation, utilising First Nations knowledge and pre-identified methods of propagation to develop new knowledge and methods. All four species have complex requirements for both seed and clonal propagation, and we will share what we have learned so far. We are also investigating the nutritional aspects of the fruits of these species and that information will be on the menu. Finally we will cover the future directions with regards to on-Country germplasm preservation and collection, and cultivation to promote future development and conservation.
