Acacias are the dominant plant in arid areas of Australia, and have various adaptations to enable them to handle poor soils, extreme heat and low rainfall. Mulga is among the most widespread of Acacias and one of the most important plants of arid Australia.
As well as mulga, this presentation will also focus on some of the other Acacia species that survive in these conditions.
A few suggestions will also be made regarding some Acacias from arid areas that may be suited to gardens in more temperate areas.
