Saplings are not simply a miniature of mature trees. Instead, juveniles, adults, and even resprouting trees of the same species can differ greatly in their tolerance to drought, with juveniles and resprouts usually, but not always, being more susceptible to water stress. Ilaíne’s talk will explore how tolerance to drought varies throughout Eucalyptus trees’ lifetimes and the implications of these developmental changes for conserving Eucalyptus and other native plants in a future drier world.
